Site Restructured for Easier Use
During the design process it amazing how many good ideas you can come up with. Sometimes too many. Such is the case here so I've taken big steps to simplify this blog site and make it more user friendly.
No "membership" via automated sign-ups. We reduced the audience groups to two basic levels.
- First and most importantly, the Code Connection is now one completely open public forum. We'll take a leap of faith and trust participants to be courtesous and helpful regardless of their knowledge level.
- Second, we are relying on the power of Squarespace to help people gain an identity if needed and also to let their Squarespace account be the key to becomming a "contributing member" of the Code Connection.
My primary mission is to help build a bridge between three audiences: code experts, architects and interns. As I see it there are three different sets of needs in the code community and these different audiences don't neccessarily fit neetly into these categories. Often, if you are an architect, you just have a simple question that you're stuck on and want a straight answer. If you're an intern you may have this same experience more often but are also thirsty for some fuller understanding to put it all in context. Code officials have deep knowledge and experience to be helpful but are often challenged by tradition and rules that restrict their ability to make it happen. Enough excuses! Let's figure out how to connect people and knowledge. Hoprfully this blog is a part of that.
Yours truly,
T. Welker AIA
