IBC 504.2 Height and area increase allowances due to
FP sprinkler system does not allow increase in number of
stories above 4 in Group R ?

Check the type of sprinkler system it refers to. Ohio Building Code which is based on IBC states the limit for R use group is for NFPA13R sprinkler system, which is a residential sprinkler system, then you have the 4 story and 60 foot limit.
If you use NFPA13, typical commercial grade sprinklers, then you have the full story and height bonus.
Ran into this on a hotel. Had us running around in circles for weeks thinking we had to go to type IB construction.
