Code Cafe > Canopy-covered space counted towards occupancy calc?

In the city of Torrance, Ca.,if you have an entry canopy that extends more than 5'-0" from the face of the building, are you obligated to consider this area as building space when calculating occupancy/parking requirements?

our design has 12 ft projection,supported by walls on each end which are the extention of the perimeter walls.
Woul this be at all affected if we changed to more open column supports towards to the
outside, could it change the occupancy?
